The School emphasises applied industrial research as the key factor in its greater involvement with industry. This offers the guarantee of advanced scientific knowledge and top flight teaching. Today, the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne has oriented its applied research towards some of the most advanced fields of science.
The school is separate in 5 divisions for education and research, thus fostering self management and tighter interaction between faculty, researchers, students and their industrial partners.
- SITE (Division for Sciences, Information and Technologies for the Environment)
- SIMMO (Division for computer Science, Mathematics, and organisation management).
- SMS (Division for Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering).
- SPIN (Division for Natural and Industrial Processes Science).
- CMP (Division for Microelectronics)
Each combines scientific, technical and educational know-how within its own speciality. Each division produces academic programmes and research and also develops its own expertise in pedagogical methods.
SITE Division will supply to the ENVIREDOX project its knowledge concerning BAT as well as his know-how in the field of wastewater treatment. It will also get involved in the non-technical part of this project (including environmental management).
