ASTRE, S.A: formerly AQEL (the two-sister companies ASTRE and AQEL have merged from the 1st September 1996 into the new firm ASTRE, S.A. which is pursuing the whole former AQEL activity) the other active member in the project, is an industrial company having a major experience in the development of recycling and effluent treatment processes using electrochemical and membrane processes as well as typical processes to eliminate heavy metals at trace levels. Most of these processes are developed for the metals processing and surface treatment industry:

• Conception of industrial waste water treatment plant
• Development of recycling and recovery
• Realization of tests with pilot units and economical studies
• Realization of regulation studies (classified installations in order to protect the environment)
• Realization of training courses in the field of water treatment
• Assistance to the companies in order to get the certification ISO 14000 implementation.

ASTRE, S.A. will supply to the ENVIREDOX project its industrial know-how in the fields of electroplating and painting.

ASTRE, S.A. will contribute, to the pilots implementation and to the creation of a training capability in the Spanish and Portuguese technical centres.
